How To Make Your Own Sewing Patterns
Everyone dreams of making it big in life. Then the first thing they wish to do is wear designer clothes. It is an urge that more or less everyone has. Everyone wants to own a designer outfit. A touch of designer uniqueness is a very lucrative idea.
Fashion like any other art is based on the firm platform of tools and methods. There are a number of tools that can aid even the beginners in creating unique designs.
Patterns are one such tool. A pattern is the format or layout imitating which the main outfit is fashioned. Patterns are drafted in paper or vellum and then they are used to cut out the desired fabric shapes. These shapes are then sewed together to create the final outfit.
There are a lot of tools available in the market that makes it possible for individuals to make their own unique sewing patterns.
Making your own unique pattern:

Sewing patterns can be customised according to ones needs and then they can be modified to cater a particular design. I want to start photographing my sewing pieces, so what photographing equipment would I need?
I want to photograph a variety of things: clothing pieces on a dummy, models (real-life), and jewelry pieces (small articles). What sorts of photographing set-up materials do I need?
I was at an architecture program this summer and the documentation booths we used contained two bright lights, a tripod, a wall with a piece of non-reflective black or white fabric covering it, a table with a piece of fabric covering it, some white weights (for both reflective and stabilizing purposes), and a room without windows.
What materials should I purchase? What kinds of lights? Where can I purchase them?

Well, I don't know about lighting kits as I haven't gotten into that myself yet.
The background would depend on the subject. For jewelry a dark background is best. Either a very deep blue or a true black. The stones and metals in the jewelry pop against a dark background. A short pile velvet would be great. For clothes, it depends on the shade. If the clothes are light in color a dark background will make them stand out. If clothes are dark in color a lighter background will make them stand out.
To shoot a subject with small details, like jewelry or embroidery on clothing a macro lens will work best.
