Why Installing a Barricade Safety Fence is Important in a Construction Site
Construction site projects may need to have temporary safety fences in order to keep everyone safe including the passersby. Aside from that, the installation of these safety fences may also provide a wide variety of other benefits.
There could be a lot different materials used for these basic temporary safety fences. These fences can be made of structural steel, polyethylene coated steel wire, woven polypropylene fabric, and many other materials. These safety fences are engineered in such a way that it can be easily installed and removed. The temporary fences are helpful in any fencing needs that the construction site may require.
If the construction site has some excavation work going on, it is important to have the open trench to have a barricade safety fence in order to protect the workers and the pedestrians from any possible accidents. Barricades can act as warning devices that will alert the other workers or the pedestrians of the hazards created by the construction activities.
The barricade safety fence should be used to control the traffic for both vehicular and pedestrian, safely through or around the construction site. The construction site operators should use these safety fences wherever necessary for the physical protection of the people or the property constructed.
There are many safety fences that you can use for the construction site; however, the yellow caution tape or those portable manhole barricades are not considered as acceptable and should only be used if there are already other acceptable safety fences installed. Aside from that, there should also be signage wherever appropriate.
Some examples of the areas that should have these barricades would be construction sites with temporary wiring operating above 600 volts, areas where electrical equipment is exposed, floor openings, temporary walls, and the swing radius of the rotating structure of the crane. With the use of these fences, the access to the construction sites can be limited to the authorized personnel only. It is the responsibility of the construction area operator to make sure that no other people can access the places where there are possible hazards. Children should not be permitted to enter the site at any time because construction areas are hazardous and the risk of accidents is quite high in these places.
If the safety fences are used for traffic control, whether it is for vehicles or pedestrian, it should be sufficiently supported and placed with the appropriate signage. The signage is very important because it will provide information to the people that the area should be avoided for safety purposes. This can prevent accidents from happening and keep everyone safe.
The installation of these fences is not very expensive and would be very helpful for preventing any accidents. Aside from that, it is also required by the law to install such barricades within or around the construction area in order to ensure the safety of the people. Not adhering to the laws will only cause the construction area operator to pay for fines and the project can even be stopped depending on the charges.
